English Tests For Studying Abroad
Planning to study overseas? The first hurdle is the English test your university and visa demand. Here is which test each country wants, and how our live 1-on-1 coaching gets you the score.
Which English Test Does Your Country Want?
The right test depends on where you are going and what you plan to do after. Here is the short version, country by country.
IELTS, PTE or TOEFL?
All three test the same four skills, listening, reading, writing and speaking, and most universities accept all three. So the real differences are the country and visa rules, the format, and how fast you get your result.
In one line each: TOEFL suits the USA, IELTS is the safe all-rounder and best for UK and Canada, and PTE is fast and computer marked, which makes it popular for Australia. If you are torn, read our full IELTS vs PTE vs TOEFL comparison.
Live 1-on-1 Coaching For Every Test
Whichever test you need, we prepare you one to one with full length mock tests, band strategy and honest feedback.
IELTS Academic
For university admission, all four modules with mock exams.
IELTS General
For work and migration, everyday and workplace English.
PTE Academic
Computer based, fast results, task specific strategy.
TOEFL iBT
Computer based, preferred by US universities.
OET
For healthcare professionals working abroad.
Working, Not Studying?
If you are a nurse, doctor or allied health professional heading abroad to work, you usually need OET rather than an academic test. It uses real clinical scenarios, patient role plays and referral letters, so general English prep does not cut it. We coach it around your exact profession.
Studying Abroad: Your Questions
Which English test is the easiest?
There is no single easiest test, they just suit different people. PTE tends to feel easier for those comfortable with computers and fast results. IELTS suits people who prefer a human examiner for speaking. In your demo we assess your strengths and point you to the one you are most likely to score well on.
Do I still need an English test if my schooling was in English?
Often yes. Many universities and almost all visa systems require an approved English test regardless of your medium of schooling, though some universities offer a waiver. Always check your specific university and visa, and if a test is needed, we prepare you for it.
How long does it take to prepare for these tests?
Usually four to eight weeks of regular one to one classes, depending on your current English and target score. If your English is already strong and you mainly need exam technique, it is faster. Your tutor gives you a realistic timeline after a demo.
Which test is best if I want to settle abroad later?
IELTS, in most cases. For countries like Canada, IELTS is used for both study and later permanent residency, so taking it early can save you sitting a second test. Your tutor factors your long term plan into the recommendation.
