How It Works

How Your CRS Score Is Built

The Comprehensive Ranking System, or CRS, scores your Express Entry profile out of 1200. Canada holds regular draws and invites the highest scorers to apply for permanent residence, so your CRS is the single number that decides whether you get an invitation.

The score comes from four blocks. Core human capital covers your age, education, English or French level and work experience, and it is the largest block for most applicants. Spouse factors add a smaller amount if your partner comes with you. Skill transferability rewards strong combinations, for example good language plus a degree, or foreign experience plus Canadian experience. Additional points are the big swing factors, a provincial nomination alone adds 600.

Two levers move the needle most for Indian applicants. The first is language: going from CLB 7 to CLB 9 in every skill can add well over 50 points once the core and transferability bonuses stack. The second is a Provincial Nominee Program, which is why so many people with mid-range scores still get invited.

This calculator applies the official IRCC point tables. Treat the result as a close estimate for planning. The official Express Entry profile is the final word, and draw cut-offs change from round to round.

Questions

Common Questions

What is a good CRS score for Canada PR?

Recent general Express Entry draws have often required around 480 to 530. Category-based draws for healthcare, trades or French speakers can be lower. A score above 500 is competitive, and a provincial nomination adds 600 points on top.

How can I increase my CRS score?

The fastest levers are raising your IELTS to CLB 9 in all four skills, gaining a provincial nomination for 600 points, adding Canadian work or study experience, and if possible strong French for up to 50 extra points.

How many CRS points do you get for IELTS?

Language can contribute over 250 points once core points and skill transferability bonuses are combined. CLB 9 in every skill is the sweet spot, because higher bands add little while CLB 9 reaches the top transferability tier.

Does a spouse lower or raise my CRS score?

It can go either way. With a spouse, your own maximum points are slightly lower, but your spouse adds up to 40 points for their education, language and Canadian experience. A well-qualified spouse usually raises the total.

Is this CRS calculator official?

No, it is an independent estimate built from the published IRCC point tables. It is accurate for planning, but you should confirm your exact score inside your official Express Entry profile before making decisions.
